Music for Any Event

Hello, thank you for stopping by!

At the bottom of the page you will find a site-wide audio player, and it offers songs that will just continue to play while you surf my site.  Just be sure to pause the player if you wish to listen to songs on any other pages here in the site.

I am a seasoned, professional singer and instrumentalist (I play guitar, ukulele, harmonica/blues harp, percussion and piano, learning banjo, and I'm a competent whistler, as well.)  I perform most genres of music as a SOLO ACOUSTIC PERFORMER.

I also perform occasionally in a duo, SAVOIRE FAIRE, with jazz/pop guitarist Mark Lynch, or in THE HOWDY DUO, with percussionist, Perry Smith.  Also performing VINTAGE JAZZ AND STANDARDS as SAVOIRE FAIRE in a trio (piano or guitar and stand up bass), quartet (with drums).

ATTENTION BRIDES:

I offer traditional and contemporary music for your wedding -- vocals and/or instrumentals (guitar or ukulele).  Wilmington is a destination for storybook weddings, with SO much to offer for your special day.  Beach weddings are a specialty!  Here is my Wedding Song List, I'm always happy to learn something extra for your special day.

ATTENTION MOMS:

Music and play is an important component of learning and Child Development.  I have created an affordable, dynamic program of early childhood music and movement ~ HAPPY LITTLE SINGERS ( www.happylittlesingers.com).  It's a wonderful parent-child/family program -- you'll have as much fun as your little ones when you come with them to sing, dance and play!!  Available for parties, too!  I'm so happy to report that my CD, Cosmic Summer Sojourn, is often used for bedtime listening by children; I've been told it's on "regular rotation for bedtime listening"!

So, more about my music:

With a 3 1/2+ octave, clear voice, I can sing in ANY style (enchanting, standards, folk/Americana, twangy country, rock, jazz, blues).  When I perform, I usually mix it up pretty well, to keep it interesting and eclectic for the audience. Over 700 songs in my repertoire!! (Big Song List)

I have been influenced and inspired by ALL genres of music. My repertoire is VAST -- Victorian music from 1850 to 1920, classic Standards and Jazz from the 20's, 30's and 40's, popular music of the 50's and 60's, Americana, traditional and eclectic folk/pop from the 60's and 70's, some 80's ballads, Jazz, a little New Wave, finger-pick and 12 bar Blues, Classic Rock, Classic Country, Christmas music, love songs, Wedding standards and, of course, my own Original Compositions.  I offer an eclectic selection of music, and I'm always learning new songs.

Back to vintage music for a minute:

My passion and unique specialty is performing Victorian era, Gilded Age Parlour Music (1850-1915), including Children's music.  (Listen to Fairy Visions, Morning in the Orchard, Dreamy Kid, The Brook, and The Silent Moon is Beaming on my music page.)  The music is lovely, lyrical and reflective of the Age of Enlightenment.

I also specialize in performing Modern American Music from 1910-1930. Another great period and genre of music.  Click here for a list of songs: 1910-1930 Song List.  I also specialize in performing at Assisted Living Facilities and Retirement Communities, so I perform these and other popular music through the 1950's and 60's. (Assisted Living Song List).

PERFORMING VINTAGE JAZZ AND STANDARDS in SAVOiRE FAiRE (duo, trio or quartet).

My CD, Cosmic Summer Sojourn:

My first and very artistic and thematic project, COSMIC SUMMER SOJOURN (which you can hear and purchase right here on this site), is my debut CD.  The music has been hailed as "timeless", "beautiful", "serenely enchanting", "soothing and sensual", "magical", "mesmerizing" and "haunting". I like to think of it as "Maxfield Parrish for the Ears." I combined music from the 1890's with some originals inspired by Eastern philosophy, interlaced with the natural sounds of summer from my backyard, to take you on relaxing and blissful aural daytrip through a summer day.

I am slowly working on a second CD,
MY BLUE SKIN (I swear I will be making progress soon).  I will add ukulele, piano, banjo and harmonica along with the guitar.  I will be arranging and producing the CD, recording all instruments in the quiet of my home recording studio. For now, you can hear two songs, Why Don't I Know You? on my music page (be sure to read the story about the song) and The Last Full Measure of Devotion, an original compostion created for and featured in a documentary about agricultural preservation in Adams County, Pennsylvania.  (My song Gliding Along Lightly which you can hear on this site was also featured in that documentary.)

AWARDS:

Cosmic Summer Sojourn, was awarded Finalist (third prize), and Honorable Mention for Gliding Along Lightly from the Songwriter's Association of Washington 2009 International Songwriting Contest.  My songs were chosen from among 700 different artists entries. The first time I have entered a songwriting contest, so I am thrilled to be among the winners!  AND I am a 5 Star Rated Musician and was awarded Rising Star in 2008 and 2009 by Gigmasters.

STONE SOUP CONCERTS:

In April 2010, I established a LISTENING ROOM Concert series, STONE SOUP CONCERTS, bringing world class talent to Wilmington, in an intimate environment.  I also host a monthly Songwriters Showcase for local songwriters in downtown Wilmington.
